Saturday Morning Musings

It must be the serenity that heavily cloaks the air that makes Bangkok feel like home to so many of us. I mean there are various way to slay a cat and if you aren't the partying sort or you just want to take some time off from that scene and enjoy the sun, there is so much to do.

On this particular Saturday, we started off at Recreational Bangkok Biking to get our bikes and cycle for the next 5 hours. This was rather exciting as I saw the city through a different lense - little hooks and nooks, the salt station and of course the Bangkok Jungle. Certainly worth the ride I'd say; pictures don't lie. Enjoy!

While riding bikes through the city, we came across very narrow walk ways surrounded by colourful tiny houses (Think Soweto if you have been to that part of South Africa). The heartwarming thing was that the people seemed happy - so little they have but they still manage to  live on with a smile on their faces and no complaints at all. We can certainly learn a thing or two!

This is supposedly the only salt production warehouse in Bangkok. Salt is made here and then distributed to the rest of the country.  (The white stuff is salt.)

We stumbled on some cotton trees, all I could think was wow, I could easily camouflage here! Spot my feet will you? Unlike the cotton field we are accustomed to, this is actually a huge tree with banana sized cotton pods.

Tiny boat at the river that connects the city with the Bangkok Jungle

Bangkok Jungle - Still in Bangkok but this part is untouched - a breath of fresh air really

The river that runs through the city.

Our bikes got a ride on the boat - cool huh?

Once at the jungle, we had a rest and fed the fish. Vicious Fish I must say!

If it wasn't for my terrible memory span, I would remember what this temple is called. Anyhow, this is one of the oldest temples and a few years ago, it was struck by lightning. Although it was a gift to an important person (forgot who), it is only used for tourist purposes. They've already built a pretty neat one right next door.
Later on, we took a young stroll down the Rod Fai Market, which is right behind Seacon Square in Bang Na. It is sad that after all that riding, I was too exhausted to explore this little vintage paradise, so do stay tuned for the full post because I will be going back soon!
Somewhere at the train night market, AKA Vintage Markert (A little haven for me :D)

Chatuchak Market - street closet with lots of GOOD, CHEAP stuff! <3
Ofcourse there is more but this will suffice for now. I love how Bangkok is a gorgeous chaos really, there must be something in the air too because I feel an odd serenity here. Do come along if you wish, and I will show you around ;)

Cheers
